Mixdorf

The discovery of urns and stone axes indicates that people settled in Mixdorf thousands of years ago. It was only when the village with the Amt Friedland municipal association fell to the Order of Saint John in 1523 that its history can be fully traced back. It was often hit by heavy strokes of fate. The church, built in 1719, has been restored to its original splendour after extensive restoration work. The number of inhabitants has quadrupled in recent years as a result of the development of residential areas. Due to its location on the railway line, it is used by day trippers as a gateway to the Schlaubetal Nature Park. From here you can also get to the Ragower Mühle mill and the Christopherusheim group hostel run by the church. Heading east from Mixdorf and crossing over the Schlaube River at Kupferhammer, you can get to the village of Schernsdorf after passing through the “Mahlheide” nature conservation area with its devastated pine forest.
